Her love of people, stories and the unknown have carried her around the world for work and exploration. As a journalist, she has worked thus far in seven countries. For speaking, education and curiosity, the tally continues. From studying global finance in China to covering politics in Africa and fronting shows in Europe, the urge to chase a lead and produce the best, most authentic work is the standard by which she thrives.

From the moment she landed her first television job as a teen talk show host in high school by winning a competition, Dara has connected to people and searched for stories to tell on any platform. Always focused on diversifying her journalistic reach, she has thrived working across sectors. “From the start, I was interested in not just one beat but, in varying subjects,” she said. “Journalism was my way to explore, bond, and inform. I studied my craft and worked whatever available assignment and, even covered stories on my own time to become a complete sponge and orator of information and not be boxed in but, instead one who can contribute on multiple levels in my uber-competitive field.”

Dara has been a talent of TV news, sports, business and entertainment. After humble beginnings in small markets, she has since served on network and show launch teams to millions of viewers and was named a future star in radio early in her career. Aside from traditional outlets Kennedy has appeared in episodic and scripted television and has self-produced from live and remote shoots.

From the United Nations to the European Diversity, Business and Inclusion Congresses in Vienna, Austria, Dara has spoken to high level participants around the World including on Wall Street having twice rung the bell at the New York Stock Exchange with organizations focused on global equity and diversity advancement.

Making History

Slide BACK IN THE DAY
GRADUATE COLLEGE Dara landed her first television job in high school by winning a competition to host a teen talk show. She would also report and write for the show which aired on the local cable channels. Always told to gather as much experience as possible, Dara worked at radio stations at night and reported for local newspapers across the country, the first woman of color to cover certain beats of wrestling and bull riding. During summers she worked for local tv stations and interned at CNN on the international desk at its Atlanta headquarters. Dara interned as a one-man band in a small deep south town and ventured back to the floor of Nielsen’s markets after college for her first on-air job and became an advertised anchor and reporter, the first woman of color to do so at the station. She landed a coveted job as a production assistant at ESPN where she worked on a variety of sports. She would shadow on-air talent on her off time and study their scripts to practice anchor delivery. She next joined a start-up production team in New York City where they would win multiple Emmy’s including for documentaries where she played a valuable role.

Dara has been nationally viewed on Fox and CBS Sports, E!, and Nickelodeon. Global viewers have tuned in to SKY and Al Jazeera English where she was the first black woman in those roles. She has had White House security clearance on multiple occasions from covering the Yankees to Politics.
